Obeying means listening and doing what is right.
Sometimes it feels easy to obey, and sometimes it feels hard, especially when we don’t feel like listening.
Jesus understands this. He obeyed God even when it was difficult, because He loved God and trusted Him.
Jesus wants to help us obey, too. When we ask Him, He gives us the strength to listen, make good choices, and do what is right.
Obeying doesn’t mean we never make mistakes. It means we keep trying, with Jesus helping us every step of the way.
When we listen to our parents, teachers, and God’s Word, we are showing love. Obedience helps keep us safe and helps us grow. Jesus is always ready to help us make the right choice.
Jesus wants me to obey
Dear Jesus,
Thank You for loving me and guiding me.
Help me to obey my parents, teachers, and Your Word.
When I feel like doing the wrong thing, help me choose what is right.
Amen.
Draw two pictures: one of listening ears and one of helping hands.
Talk about how listening and obeying help us do good.
Say together: “Jesus helps me obey.”
Who helps you learn to obey at home or at school?
Why do you think obeying is important?
How can Jesus help you obey today?
This week, choose to obey quickly and cheerfully when asked to do something good.
Pray and ask Jesus to help you obey even when it feels hard.
Sit quietly and take a deep breath.
Think of one thing Jesus is helping you obey today.
Tell Him: “Jesus, help me choose what is right.”
Stay quiet and feel His peace.
Jesus is always there to help you obey with love
