Being Careful with My Choices

“Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise.” —  Ephesians 5:15

🕊️ Story / Reflection

Every day we make choices. Some choices are small:

• What to say
• How to behave
• Whether to share or not

Other choices can be very important:

• Choosing good friends
• Telling the truth
• Obeying God
• Doing what is right even when it is hard

God wants us to make wise and careful choices because our choices affect our lives and the people around us. 

Sometimes wrong choices may look fun or easy at first, but they can lead to trouble, hurt, or regret later. 

Wise choices help us grow in peace, joy, and godly character. 

Before making decisions, we should pause and ask:

• “Is this pleasing to God?”
• “Is this wise?”
• “Would Jesus want me to do this?”

God helps us make good choices through His Word, prayer, parents, teachers, and the Holy Spirit. 

Every wise choice helps us become stronger and more like Jesus.

💡 Lesson

God wants me to make wise and careful choices.

🙏 Prayer

Dear God,

Help me make wise choices every day.

Teach me to think carefully before I act or speak.

Guide me to choose what is right and pleasing to You.

Help me become more like Jesus in my decisions.

Amen.

🎨 Activity (Ages 3–6)“Wise Choice” Sorting Game

Read simple situations and let children sort them into:

• Wise choices 👍
• Unwise choices 👎

Examples:

• Sharing toys
• Telling lies
• Helping others
• Hitting
• Obeying parents

Say together: “I can choose wisely!”

Discuss:

1. Why are choices important?
2. What can happen when we make careless choices?
3. How does God help us make wise decisions?
4. What are some wise choices children can make every day?

🕯️ Challenge (Ages 10–12)Wise Choices Challenge

This week:

• Pause before making decisions
• Pray before difficult choices
• Choose honesty, kindness, and obedience
• Avoid choices that may hurt others

Before acting, ask yourself: “Is this a wise choice that honours God?”

🌿 Sit with Jesus Moment

Sit quietly and place your hands gently on your lap. 

Think about a choice you may need to make soon. 

Now softly say:“Jesus, help me choose wisely.”

Pause quietly for a moment. Imagine Jesus walking beside you and guiding your steps each day. Rest peacefully and remember that God helps you make good choices when you trust Him.
