“It is to one’s honour to avoid strife, but every fool is quick to quarrel.”

Tola and her little brother, Dara, were playing with blocks. Suddenly, Dara took the red block Tola wanted. She quickly snatched it back, and before long, both of them were shouting loudly. Their mum walked in and gently asked, “Who started the fight?”
Both children were quiet. Tola realised she could have used her words instead of reacting so fast. She didn’t have to fight. She could have chosen peace.
God loves it when we choose peace over arguments. Walking away, speaking calmly, or sharing are powerful ways to show His love. Fighting only makes things worse, but peace brings honour.
Learning not to start fights is part of growing in wisdom. Choosing peace shows strength and reflects God’s heart.
God wants us to be peacemakers. We show wisdom and maturity when we avoid fights and handle conflicts with kindness and calmness.
Dear Jesus,
Help me choose peace instead of fighting. Give me a calm heart, gentle words, and the wisdom to walk away when I need to. Amen.
Trace both hands on paper, cut them out, and write or draw ways to make peace (sharing toys, saying sorry, gentle words). Decorate with colours and stickers.
Write down three peaceful ways you can handle a conflict at home or school.
Example:
This week, when someone annoys you, pause before reacting. Choose one peaceful response and practice it.
Then answer: How did choosing peace make you feel?
You honour God when you choose peace. Every time you avoid a fight, you are becoming more like Jesus and shining His light.
