📖 Bible Verse
“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” — Proverbs 4:23

🕊️ Story / Reflection

Have you ever thought about how important your heart is?

The Bible is not talking about the heart that pumps blood through your body.

It is talking about your inner heart—the place where your thoughts, feelings, attitudes, and choices come from.

God tells us to guard our hearts because what we allow into our hearts affects the way we live.

Just as we protect valuable things, we should protect our hearts from things that can pull us away from God.

We guard our hearts by:

  • Reading God's Word
  • Praying regularly
  • Choosing good friends
  • Thinking about good and true things
  • Avoiding things that encourage sin
  • Listening to godly advice

If we fill our hearts with God's truth, kindness, love, and wisdom, those things will show in our words and actions.

Jesus wants our hearts to belong completely to Him. When we guard our hearts carefully, we grow stronger in our faith and make better choices.

A protected heart becomes a place where God's love can grow and shine.

💡 Lesson

I should protect my heart by filling it with things that please God.

🙏 Prayer

Dear God, help me guard my heart every day. Teach me to choose things that help me grow closer to You. Fill my heart with Your truth, love, wisdom, and peace. Help me make choices that honour You.Amen.

🎨 Activity (Ages 3–6)"Heart Treasure Box"

Draw or cut out a large heart. Inside the heart, place pictures or words that belong in our hearts:

  • Love
  • Kindness
  • Prayer
  • God's Word
  • Joy
  • Peace

Say together: "I will fill my heart with God's good things!"

✏️ Reflection (Ages 7–9)

Discuss:

  1. What does it mean to guard your heart?
  2. Why does God want us to protect our hearts?
  3. What kinds of things help our hearts grow closer to God?
  4. What are some things we should be careful about allowing into our hearts?

🕯️ Challenge (Ages 10–12)Heart Guard Challenge

This week:

  • Spend time reading your Bible every day
  • Think about things that are good and true
  • Choose friends who encourage you to do what is right
  • Pray when you are faced with difficult choices

Ask yourself each day: "Is what I'm allowing into my heart helping me grow closer to God?"

🌿 Sit with Jesus Moment

Sit quietly and place both hands over your heart.

Take a slow breath. Now softly say: "Jesus, help me guard my heart." Pause quietly for a moment.

Think about the things that fill your mind each day—your thoughts, conversations, entertainment, and friendships.

Imagine Jesus gently placing His hands over your heart and filling it with His love, truth, peace, and wisdom.

Listen quietly as He says:"Keep your heart close to Me, and I will guide your life."

Rest peacefully, knowing that Jesus cares deeply about your heart and will help you protect it.
