πŸ“– Bible Verse
β€œLet the wise listen and add to their learning, and let the discerning get guidance.” β€” Proverbs 1:5

πŸ•ŠοΈ Story / Reflection

A teachable spirit is a heart that is willing to learn.

God wants us to keep learning and growing throughout our lives. He teaches us through His Word, parents, teachers, pastors, and other godly people.

Sometimes we may think we already know enough, or we may not like being corrected when we make mistakes. But a teachable person is humble enough to listen, learn, and improve.

Jesus, even as a child, listened, learned, and grew in wisdom. The Bible tells us that He grew in wisdom and favour with God and people.

Having a teachable spirit means:

  • Listening carefully
  • Accepting correction
  • Asking questions
  • Learning from mistakes
  • Being willing to improve
  • Respecting those who teach us

When we refuse to learn, we stop growing. But when we stay humble and teachable, God can help us become wiser and stronger.

A teachable heart says:"I may not know everything, but I am willing to learn."

God loves a humble heart that is eager to learn His ways.

Create paper ears and decorate them. Talk about how good listeners learn and grow. Practice listening to simple instructions and following them carefully. Say together: "I can listen and learn!"

✏️ Reflection (Ages 7–9)

Discuss:

  1. What does it mean to have a teachable spirit?
  2. Why is it important to listen to parents and teachers?
  3. How can correction help us grow?
  4. What new thing have you learned recently?

πŸ•―οΈ Challenge (Ages 10–12)Teachable Heart Challenge

This week:

  • Listen carefully when others are speaking
  • Accept correction without arguing
  • Ask questions when you do not understand
  • Learn one new thing each day

Ask yourself: "Was I willing to learn today?"

🌿 Sit with Jesus Moment

Sit quietly and place your hands open on your lap.

Take a slow breath. Now softly say: "Jesus, give me a teachable heart."

Pause quietly for a moment. Think about something God may be teaching you right now through your parents, teachers, or His Word.

Listen quietly and imagine Jesus gently saying: "Keep learning, My child. I am helping you grow."

Rest peacefully, knowing that God delights in a humble heart that is willing to learn
