📖 Bible Verse
“Speak, Lord, for Your servant is listening.” — 1 Samuel 3:9

🕊️ Story / Reflection

Imagine having a friend who talks and talks but never lets you speak. That wouldn’t feel like a real conversation, would it?

Prayer is a conversation with God.

When we pray, we talk to God.

But we also pause and listen.

Listening doesn’t always mean hearing a loud voice. Sometimes God speaks through:

  • A peaceful feeling in your heart
  • A Bible verse you remember
  • Wise advice from a parent or teacher
  • A gentle reminder to do what is right

God wants a relationship with you, and relationships include both talking and listening.

When you slow down and sit quietly after praying, you give space for God to guide your heart.

💡 Lesson

Prayer is a two-way conversation — I talk to God, and I listen for His guidance.

🙏 Prayer

Dear God,

Thank You that I can talk to You.

Help me also to listen carefully for Your voice and Your guidance.

Teach me to be still and pay attention to what You are showing me.

Amen.

🎨 Activity (Ages 3–6)

  • Draw a speech bubble on one side of a paper and an ear on the other side.
  • In the speech bubble, draw something you want to tell God.
  • On the ear side, sit quietly for 20 seconds and draw a heart to show listening.

✏️ Reflection (Ages 7–9)

  1. Why is listening important in any friendship?
  2. How do you think God might speak to you?
  3. Have you ever felt peaceful after praying?

🕯️ Challenge (Ages 10–12)

  • After each prayer today:
  • Sit quietly for one full minute.
  • Pay attention to thoughts, peace, or reminders.
  • Write down anything that encourages you or helps you make a good choice.

Practice stillness.

🌿 Sit with Jesus Moment

Close your eyes.

Take a slow breath in… and out.

Whisper:

“Speak, Lord, I am listening.

”Sit quietly for a few moments.

Imagine Jesus sitting beside you, gently guiding your heart.

Rest in the quiet.
