πŸ“– Bible Verse
β€œEncourage one another and build each other up.” β€” 1 Thessalonians 5:11

πŸ•ŠοΈ Story / Reflection

Words are very powerful. The things we say can make someone feel happy and encouraged, or they can make someone feel sad and hurt.

God wants us to use our words to build people up, not tear them down. Sometimes children may be tempted to:

  • Tease others
  • Make fun of someone
  • Gossip
  • Say hurtful things
  • Point out people's mistakes

But Jesus teaches us a better way. He wants us to speak words that encourage, comfort, and bless others. Kind words can sound like:

  • "You did a great job!"
  • "I am proud of you."
  • "Thank you for helping me."
  • "You are a good friend."
  • "God loves you."

When we speak kindly, we help others feel valued and loved. A person may forget what gift you gave them, but they often remember the kind words you spoke. Every encouraging word is like planting a seed of love in someone's heart. God is pleased when our mouths are filled with kindness and encouragement.

πŸ’‘ Lesson

God wants me to use my words to encourage and bless others.

πŸ™ Prayer

Dear God, Thank You for giving me the ability to speak. Help me use my words wisely. Teach me to say kind, encouraging, and loving things about others. Keep me from speaking words that hurt people. Let my words bring joy and honour to You. Amen.

🎨 Activity (Ages 3–6): "Kind Words Circle"

Sit in a circle. Each child says one kind thing about the person next to them. Examples:

  • "You are helpful."
  • "You are kind."
  • "I like playing with you."

Say together: "My words can make others feel loved!"

✏️ Reflection (Ages 7–9)

Discuss:

  1. Why are words powerful?
  2. How do kind words make people feel?
  3. What happens when we use hurtful words?
  4. What are some encouraging things you can say to others?

πŸ•―οΈ Challenge (Ages 10–12)Encouragement Challenge

This week:

  • Compliment someone every day
  • Thank people for their kindness
  • Refuse to join in gossip or teasing
  • Encourage a friend who feels discouraged

Ask yourself: "Did my words build people up today?"

🌿 Sit with Jesus Moment

Sit quietly and place a hand over your mouth and another over your heart. Take a slow breath. Now softly say: "Jesus, help my words bring life and encouragement." Pause quietly for a moment. Think about someone who may need encouragement today.

Ask Jesus:"What kind words can I share with them?"  Listen quietly and imagine Jesus filling your heart with kindness that overflows into your words.

Rest peacefully, knowing that your words can be a blessing and help others feel God's love.
